SAINTS

Traditionally in the Greek Orthodox Church, Saints are represented in icons (two-dimensional paintings). In this work, Dimitris used this idea of contemporary icons to portray his spiritual journey from darkness into light. The Icons are brought to life through a performance during which each Saint expresses its gist through dance and movement.

Initially, a pair of eyes represent darkness, then Saint Nature arrives to awaken you. Saint Intimacy follows, liberating you from all the inner ties and constraints; Saint Fire is next, representing the explosion from within into the outside world. Saint Time appears representing maturity, followed by Saint Glam, who represents the presence we all exude. The final Icon, Saint Light, is a self-portrait of the artist representing the completion of his journey and the need to enjoy  colour and the pleasures of life._
