The painting was subsequently nominated by ARTJOBS as Artist of the Month, June 2021.

The artwork is inspired by The Birds by Aristophanes, drawing parallels between the play’s myth and the experience of the recent pandemic. As a fable of humility, the work reflects on humanity’s hubristic belief in its control over nature, a belief that Aristophanes exposes as fragile and ultimately illusory.
