The painting is mainly inspired by the life of Lafcadio Hearn and the film ‘Kwaidan’ and was awarded a medal of contemporary art by the International Art Exchange Exhibition Kobe 2019, Japan.

It depicts the quest for a place with all the diûculties that entails along with the inner awakening to find an identity (which Lafcadio always looked for during all his travels). Lafcadio found his inner peace in Japan, where he died with the given name Yakumo Koizumi (小泉 八 雲).
