Art Athina 2000 Exhibition
The Bauhaus movement, along with the work of Francis Bacon and Gary Hume, informed the development of Dimitris Pikros’ Honours Degree in 2000. He was awarded the highest grades of the year for a proposal that explored the creation of perspective and movement without outlining the artistic object, using bright, flat colour, linear elements, and isolated forms. This research culminated in the technical formulation of Dimitris Pikros’ Innovative Painting Manifesto.
The works presented were self-portraits, marking the first time he openly expressed his queer identity and addressed themes of diversity by questioning the physical body of Adam and Eve. As a result, Dimitris Pikros was selected to present his Honours Degree work at the Art Athina 2000, where the exhibited collection received significant acclaim and resulted in the sale of all works.
